Do You Need Certifications Or Accreditations To Become An Education Consultant?

So, the short answer to this question is no, you don’t need any certifications or accreditations to become an education consultant. Thanks for reading, bye!

Now, y'all know I wouldn’t do that to you. Let’s dig into this answer because I think this is a great question that touches on a few things. So, no I don’t personally recommend that you seek out any certain certifications or accreditations to become an education consultant because my philosophy is that results matter. Results matter (and often show) more than a certification can, especially in schools.

For example, I’m a certified teacher and principal, so it makes sense that I'm coaching principals, because I’ve been a principal, shown results as a principal, and know how to encourage other principals to get the results they desire by utilizing and sharing my own experience.

Now, let’s say that instead of coaching principals, I’m trying to solve a problem in special education, then if I had experience and certification as a special educator teacher would be more useful. So, it depends on your experience and the problem you’re solving. If both are similar, then there’s probably no need to look for additional certification or accreditation. If both are different, or opposites even, you may want to look into certification or think about whether or not the problem you want to solve is truly the best problem for you to solve.

Another thing I want to mention when talking about certification and accreditation is how it can boost your confidence. I see nothing wrong with going for a certification if you know that it will make you feel more confident in yourself, your abilities and your experience because, in my opinion, that’s a dope return on investment (ROI).

So, no you don’t need any certifications or accreditations to become an education consultant, but you definitely want to be cognizant of your experience and how it relates to the problem you want to solve in your business. And if you’re thinking about a certification, remember to determine the ROI you’ll get from the experience to ensure it’s the best choice for you and your business!
